Watch for imitators: only annualcreditreport.com is authorized by federal law to give you these reports for free. Any site asking for a credit card first is not the official source.

01

Go to the official site

Visit annualcreditreport.com directly — type the address in yourself rather than clicking a search ad. This is the only site authorized to provide your free reports from all three bureaus.

Do this on a computer, not your phone — you'll want to save or print each report as a PDF, which is much easier on desktop.

Request Your Free Reports →

02

Start your request

Click "Request my free credit reports" and enter your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number. This is required by law to verify your identity and is handled securely.

03

Verify your identity

You'll answer a few multiple-choice questions pulled from your credit history. Answer honestly — this step exists to keep your report safe from identity thieves.

04

Choose your bureaus

Free weekly access to all three bureaus — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — is now permanent federal policy, not just a once-a-year benefit. We recommend pulling all three the first time, since each one can show different information.

05

Save your reports

Download or print each report as a PDF and keep them somewhere safe. These reports show your account history but do not include your credit score.
